Ira’s point in clip #5 has held my attention for 35 years and more: “[participants] are intimidated by the presence of an authority figure [Subject Matter Expert] and just clam up”.

What I noticed, oh so long ago, was a complex dynamic that resulted in what I’d call hegemony. The A students/participants climb aboard the band wagon while the !A students/participants ponder the consequences of marginalization.

Hence my motto: “It’s about discourse!”
