I know that in some of the beta testing we'd asked about it; quite a few people have complained about Eduspaces home page being dominated by repeated copies of the same posts. From what I can tell, it's when a class of students have all signed to import the same (prolific) feed. Given that the RSS import (and the granularity of posting) was one of the main reasons for my promotion of Elgg, I was a bit miffed. I have suggested to them, though not had any response yet, is to use Google Analytics method; i.e. you register your RSS feed. If you want to import it, it (Elgg) gives you some code that you have to embed in the header or whatever of your blog, to prove ownership. That would enable those of us who use the RSS feed from our own blogs, but would stop people embedding external feeds in their own blogs. Of course, you'd still be able to use it as an RSS aggregator. I’m not sure if the RSS import is going to be implemented.
