My great great great grandmother was Maria Salomea Werdmuller van Elgg (Venlo 22 august 1794 – Rotterdam 3 march 1854). Her father was Hans Johan Coenraad Werdmuller von Elgg (I have no date of birth or death) Does anybody know who his ancestors were?

My great grandmother was Marie Werdmuller von Elgg, and her daughter Theodora was my grandmother. I was hoping that I could get in contact with some of the other Werdmuller von Elgg’s to find out more about the family?? I am also from Sydney Australia. One day I hope to be able to go to the castle in Elgg that my grandmother always told me about!!

Heh; two years later, I just discovered this post.

My full last name is also Werdmuller von Elgg, which presumably means I’m related to the commenters above (Otto, referenced above, was my grandfather). I named Elgg after the town in Switzerland almost by accident: I’d bought elgg.net for my personal email but hadn’t put a website there, and when I first wrote the embryonic software it seemed as decent a place as any to put it.

These days, of course, I’m no longer working on Elgg the software (although I still work in the same field). I’m planning a new open source project, but in the meantime, I also very much want to head back to Switzerland and reconnect with my family roots. Not to mention promote the town online a bit, to make amends for swamping it in the Google rankings …

Searched my name on Google and found your site. Nice that you visited Elgg. I’ve been there only once,in 1982. My entire last name is Werdmuller von Elgg. The Werdmuller von Elgg’s own the castle/schloss in Elgg.
